In June of 2023 Trent University facility services engaged the Nerva energy group with a five-building project to reduce ventilation air leakage. The program called ventilation repair, seal and optimize (VeRO) is an engineered process to reduce ventilation air league to less than 2%. It is a known fact that all ventilation air handling system leak air. In fact, authorities such as ASHRAE recommend to mechanical engineering firms to over size ventilation systems due air leakage. ASHRAE has declared all ventilation air ducts leak between 15-30%. Nerva’s current portfolio of projects totalling in the hundreds has an average portfolio of ventilation air loss of 28%. The purpose of the document is to provide a summary of the specific measurable results and the financial and environmental impact on the University of Trent.
